  • Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, and long-term pass holders in Singapore
  • Between 10 to 26 years old
  • Applicants should be proficient in playing one or more of the following instruments:

How to Apply SNYCO Audition?

Before submitting your application to join SNYCO, please have the following documents prepared to be uploaded to the Online Application Form.

Each application will only be processed if the application form and all required documents are duly submitted.

One recent passport sized photograph

(face must be clearly seen)

Clearly scanned scores of your choice piece(s)
A scanned copy of instrumental grading certificate, the highest grade attained

(if any)

A scanned copy of ABRSM music theory certificate, the highest grade attained

(if any)

You will receive an email notification upon submitting your application successfully, and all communications will be sent to your registered email address within 14 working days.

*Rehearsals will be held daily on the concert week. Accepted applicants will be subjected to minimum attendance to retain their membership.

*Training days are subjected to changes, and schedule will be released 2 – 3 months before the respective concerts.

Successful applicants are expected to participate in all trainings, concerts, and official SNYCO activities scheduled within the membership year. Applicants should therefore ensure that they are able to commit to the full training and performance schedule before accepting a place in SNYCO.

For Percussion
2 Choice Pieces

  • 1 piece should feature a mallet instrument while the other piece features a drumming instrument

  • Total duration of 2 pieces to be within 5 minutes, with lento and allegro sections that showcases musical expressions and technicality

  • Scores are to be submitted by applicants

2 Set Pieces

  • In stave score format

  • Will be provided by the SNYCO Office via registered email upon application submission

1 Étude Piece
1 Sight-Reading Piece

  • In stave score format

  • You will be given 10 minutes to work on the piece on the day of the audition

For Other Instruments
1 Choice Piece

  • Total duration should be within 5 minutes, with lento and allegro sections that showcases musical expressions and technicality

  • Scores are to be submitted by applicants

2 Set Pieces

  • In stave score format

  • Will be provided by the SNYCO Office via registered email upon application submission

1 Étude Piece
1 Sight-Reading Piece

  • In stave score format

  • You will be given 10 minutes to work on the piece on the day of the audition

Note:

  • You may be stopped at any point of time and be interviewed by our panel of adjudicators during your audition.
  • If the choice piece(s) exceeds the time limit, you may perform excerpts, clearly indicating them on your scores during registration.
  • Any changes to repertoire must be made in writing to the SNYCO Office no later than Monday, 6 July 2026.

Disclaimer

All instrument allocations will be made by SNYCO conductors and teacher artists upon acceptance into SNYCO. Decisions made will be final.

  1. The following instruments will be provided during the audition, unless applicants prefer to use personal instruments:
    • Yangqin
    • Double Bass
    • Harp
    • Guzheng (Tuned according to Set, Étude and Sighting-Reading Pieces)
    • Percussion
    • Zhongyin Sheng
  2. In order to expose our musicians to a wider range of instruments, musicians may be rotated within a sub-instrumental group for each concert. For example, if you are a cellist, you may be deployed to pick up the Double Bass as well.
  3. Please refer to the following table for the instruments to be used during the audition.

  1. I am unable to read stave scores, will there be numeric scores available?

    All SNYCO members are required to read stave scores. As such, we expect the same of our applicants. No numeric scores will be provided. However, you are welcome to use numeric scores for your choice piece.

  2. I am under/over the age limit. Can I still apply to join SNYCO?

    Unfortunately, we are only able to accept applicants who fit the application criteria.

  3. When will I know the status of my application and receive the scores for set and etude pieces?

    The SNYCO Office will contact you within 14 working days via email on the status of your application form. If all information is in order, you will receive the scores for set and etude pieces in the confirmation email. Application may be rejected if we do not receive the complete information from you.

  4. When will I know my audition date and time after the confirmation of my application?

    You will receive via email the exact audition date and time around 3 weeks after the closing of the application period (6 July 2026).

  5. After my audition, when will I know the outcome of my audition results?

    You will receive via email the results around 3 weeks after your audition.
