Performing on iconic stages. Learning from world-class musicians. Captivating audiences. Discovering exciting new music and artistic ideas. Inspiring others — and being inspired.
Being a SNYCO member can be life changing. You’ll encounter exciting opportunities to take on challenges, push past what you thought was possible, and achieve new levels of musical mastery. You’ll find courage, confidence, and a caring community. Are you ready to start a rigorous and rewarding adventure with us?
We welcome applicants who play an orchestral instrument at an advanced level. Applicants may be primary, secondary, or tertiary students from any discipline, including students currently enrolled in professional music degrees. However, you don’t need to aspire towards a career in music to join us.
To apply, you should be:
- Between 10 and 26 years old
- Singaporean, Singapore Permanent Resident, or Long-Term Pass Holder in Singapore
- Able to read numeric and stave scores
- Able to commit to orchestra activities (generally held after school/work hours)
It's free to apply and audition for SNYCO. Our application process opens in March every year. To apply, simply complete the online application form and upload the necessary supporting documents.
If you're eligible, we'll invite you to an in-person audition. During the audition, you'll be assessed on your performance of various pieces and excerpts. After the audition, please stay tuned, and we'll be in touch once we have an outcome to share with you. Your SNYCO journey begins upon acceptance.
Develop your leadership and organisational skills by joining the Members’ Committee. You’ll gain experience in orchestra management with key operational roles such as score librarian, welfare coordinator, social media coordinator, and wardrobe coordinator — giving you transferable skills for any future career path you choose. In addition, members are appointed to lead various instrumental groups as Principals or Associate Principals.
In these roles, you’ll communicate the vision of conductors and teachers to SNYCO members and guide your section towards the artistic requirements — giving you an opportunity to contribute towards the quality of each performance.
* Exact schedule to be advised upon acceptance, terms and conditions applies.
