The annual combined concert by the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) is once again set to captivate audiences in a celebration of musical excellence, mentorship, and artistic collaboration. A highly anticipated highlight on both orchestras’ calendars, this cherished tradition brings together seasoned musicians and rising young ones on one stage.
This year’s concert will be jointly led by conductors Quek Ling Kiong and Lien Boon Hua. Adding to the excitement, SNYCO member Lin Yu-Chen will take centre stage as soloist for the spirited banhu concerto Hua Bang Zi, performing alongside SCO. SNYCO member Wang Yuchu will present the guzheng concerto Ding Feng Bo in the local premiere of its Chinese orchestral version, a performance not to be missed!
The concert will also feature Composer Qu Chunquan’s Music and Dance of the Silk Road, presented by the combined forces of SCO and SNYCO. Rich in colour and energy, the piece paints a vivid musical journey inspired by the cultures and landscapes along the ancient Silk Road. Rounding up the evening is Liu Changyuan’s Symphony of Sizhu, a vibrant and expressive work that beautifully blends traditional charm with contemporary orchestral textures.
Presented by teacher-artists and their protégés, this exhilarating concert is a meaningful showcase of artistic legacy, youthful passion, and the enduring spirit of Chinese orchestral music. Audiences can expect an unforgettable evening of inspiration and musical splendour.
